Walk Around and Meet the Culture

Mfangano Island provides a unique opportunity to see the colourful life on the lake, where enchanting Luo fishing villages have changed very little over the centuries. Go for a walk to the fishing village near the lodge, by yourself (or accompanied by the lodge staff, from the village, who will show you around with explanations).

 

Nature At Its Best

Nature lovers and bird watchers will find themselves in paradise – by boat, in 30 minutes, you get to Bird Island, awash with nesting White Egrets, Cormorants and Fish Eagles, living in constant danger of their predators, the giant monitor lizards.

Other random activities include:

• Fishing from the shore or from our boat.
• Cycling around the island on our mountain bikes.
• A relaxing massage.
• Visit and support our local school.
• Visit by boat to the ancient rock art in Mawanga Cave and Kwitone.
