How to get to us – Mfangano Island Lodge

Mfangano Island Lodge is open throughout the year. We will collect you in one of our boats from Mbita or Rusinga. The trip takes 30 minutes in our speedboat and 1 hour in our fishing boat.

Price per fishing boat transfer: fishing boat from/to Rusinga is 60Usd one way. Price per fishing boat from/to Mbita is 80usd one way.

Also, you can arrive by public transport using the Water Bus service: Each way 300kes. – this is a big boat that sails three times a day from Mbita to Mfangano Island. Please contact Mark Mutu (+254 704 422 753) about departure times

From Nairobi to Homa Bay or Kisumu, or fly charter from Masai Mara.

The most direct flight is to charter to Mfangano Island airstrip, a short drive from the lodge. Also, you can charter to Rusinga airstrip, near Mbita and in 30 minutes by speed boat, you will be at our lodge.

Scheduled flights from Nairobi arrive at Homa Bay airport, only 45 minutes from Mbita, from where we can pick you up in our boat and bring you (30mins/1 hour) to our beautiful Island Lodge.

Also, there are many daily flights from Nairobi to Kisumu, 3 hours from Mbita. If required, we can provide transport from Kisumu to Mbita from where our boat will bring you to the lodge.

Charter flights can be arranged from any of the Masai Mara airstrips.
